How do I make my weaker foot stronger?

Question :

Hi, How are you doing?
Actually I play soccer and I’m left footed, the problem is that I
can’t play with my right foot, even pass or trapping a ball with my
right foot.
How can I train my right foot?
Thanks a lot,

Answer:
At the moment I would recommend ball rhythmics, you can see the example here : http://www.youtube.com/user/totalfootballschools?feature=mhee#p/f/1/sD4msi4i-RM

This method has grown in interest throughout Europe and has been particularly encouraged by Michel Bruyninckx, the new academy director of Royal Standard Liege Belgium.

Before this post, he was part of the Belgian national academy and was being sort after by the likes Jose Morinho for his academy at Real Madrid. He is possibly the most listened to academy coach in Europe today and is a big reason for the growth in Belgian youth talent over the last few years.
The ball-rhythmics use of the net helps with timing, rhythm and obviously using both feet.
When using the net, the ball never leaves your close proximity, which means that the player will get many, many more touches during his or her training session.

The ball is held on the end of the string by the player and you will notice that the central axis point (where the hand holds the string) is usually best placed and kept in the players centre. Around this centre, the player can find their perfect balance point and making sure that they are equally strong either side of this balance point will help to prevent injuries in the future. (A balanced player is not compensating one way or another for a weakness elsewhere.)

Watch this video to see some other techniques you might use to kick the ball with using the net :

If you cannot find/make a net in this way, then I would recommend finding a wall to pass to and using only your right foot.

Use all areas of your foot. Inside, outside and laces.

Move closer to the wall, so the passes become quicker and harder.

Move further from the wall to require you to build strength in your right leg.
If you stick to just using your right foot and thinking about how you need to adjust your body shape to make the pass (it will feel awkward at first) you will not lose your ability with your left, but should make you think about the technique and body shape you make when you use your left foot.

After this, if you alternate between using your left foot and right foot for each pass to the wall, you should be able to reflect your technique that you use for your left foot, more easily with your right foot.

Also a point to note is that if you can become as strong on your right foot as your left, you will help to prevent yourself from injuries in your future career.

I hope this answers your question.

If this doesn’t or if you would like any more advice, please feel free to ask.
